The Coronado Islanders defeated the The Stinging Larvae, 13-2, in part because of shortstop Tony Ruiz. Ruiz went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Islanders. Jonathan Cabral, who is tied for 4th in the TR with a 13.6 K/9 rate, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 5 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 4-0. The losses continue to mount for The Stinging, which has now dropped 14 in a row.

Early in the game, Ruiz had a 2-run home run for Coronado. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Islanders on top, 2-0.
