Earthquakes Send Walnut Creek Home with 5-1 Loss
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the San Francisco Earthquakes and Walnut Creek Warriors.
The San Francisco Earthquakes dealt the Walnut Creek Warriors a 5-1 loss at Golden Gate Park. Geoff Raines, who finished 2nd in the RCL in on-base percentage with .405 in 2060, was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. San Francisco pitcher Nick Derr got the win, upping his record to 5-2. Bruce Moreno got the loss.
The Earthquakes got a big at-bat from second baseman Gil Delk. For the game, Delk was 3-4 with 3 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 38th double of the season gave San Francisco a 2-0 lead.
"It was a good effort all around," said Raines.
By defeating Walnut Creek, the third-place Earthquakes improved to 46-50.
