Victoria Gets 3-1 Win
|
Victoria Totems starter Jorge Ramirez pitched a strong game against the Coronado Islanders at Barack H. Obama Park, leading the Totems to victory, 3-1. In 7.1 innings, Ramirez surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 5. He allowed 1 run. Earning his 11th save of the year was Armando Gimenez.
Victoria used a clutch at-bat from Tony Burciaga to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Totems ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Coronado skipper Ed Lenhardt, "and it cost us."
The third-place Totems hiked their record to 34-23.
