Fighting Iguanas Get 3-1 Win Versus Easton
|
Scripps Field was the site of a competitive game between the Easton Caterpillars and Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas.
Boca Raton took on Easton in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. David Gomez, in particular, was fantastic. The Boca Raton right-hander helped his team snag the win, 3-1. The winning pitcher was Gomez, now 4-2. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 8. Brent Stone earned the save, his 2nd.
The Fighting Iguanas got a big at-bat from designated hitter Miguel Gallegos. For the game, Gallegos was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 14th double of the season gave Boca Raton a 2-0 lead.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Gallegos said.
By defeating Easton, the 5th-place Fighting Iguanas improved to 48-80.
