Scorpions Stymie Boca Raton, Take 6-1 Win
|
Boca Raton had no answer for Scottsdale Scorpions starter Fernando Vasquez, who flummoxed Fighting Iguanas hitters as the Scorpions cruised to a 6-1 victory. Vasquez, the winner, moves to 2-5. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Scottsdale has a 3-game win streak, while Boca Raton has lost 3 in a row.
The Scorpions got a big at-bat from third baseman David Santos. For the game, Santos went 1 for 5 with a triple. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 4th triple of the season gave Scottsdale a 1-0 lead.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Santos.
