The Yuma Varmits picked up a win at The Range, knocking off the Victoria Totems, 4-2. Starting pitcher Allen Cain was a big reason why. Bobby Gottlieb got the save, the 6th for him this season. With the win, Yuma goes to 36-19, while the Totems fall to 33-22.
The Varmits got a big at-bat from third baseman Bryant McGarr. For the game, McGarr was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 10th double of the season gave Yuma a 2-0 lead.
McGarr called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
