The Syracuse-Carrollton game took longer to complete because of the rain. But it was worth it for the home team in the end.

The Syracuse Orange Sox took Carrollton pitcher John Clay's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Syracuse Fields. The final score had Syracuse getting past the Rangers, 3-2. Clay went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 7. With the win over Carrollton, the Orange Sox improved to 77-47.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Syracuse. That's when Jairo Soto hit a 2-run home run off 19-year old right-handed pitcher Ted Owens to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"We busted our tails," said Carrollton manager Hung-chang Chao. "But we came up short."
