5-for-6 Game for Wooten
|
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Dan Wooten, it came around today.
The 21-year-old second baseman scattered hits all over The Queen to pace the 10-7 Paradise Island Pirates victory over the The Stinging Larvae.
The Stinging skipper Jose Correa told reporters in the press room that "Wooten deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Wooten hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Dan Wooten singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Octavio Flores in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Wooten has collected 63 hits for the Pirates this year, 10 of them home runs. He has also netted 33 RBIs and scored 37 runs while batting .399.
