Islanders Net 8-2 Win Over Storm
|
The exploits of center fielder Dan Dunn, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2063 draft, helped the Coronado Islanders defeat the Wichita Storm, 8-2. Dunn was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Coronado reliever Jesus Ortega got the win, raising his record to 1-3. Jose Quihuis was tagged with the loss. Jonathan Cabral earned the save for Coronado, his 2nd of the year.
Coronado used a clutch at-bat from Mike Goodpaster to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Islanders ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Things went our way," said Goodpaster.
Wichita is in the throes of a losing streak which has reached 9 games.
