Francisco Villanueva never let the Lighting get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Cyclones to a win, 5-0. In 5.1 innings, Villanueva surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. The win makes Brooklyn 75-46.

Brooklyn third baseman Arturo Gomez contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 23rd hit of the season and put the Cyclones ahead, 2-0.

"We'll keep riding this wave," said Villanueva.
