Robinson Goes Deep Twice in 9-4 Islanders Win
|
The Coronado Islanders defeated the Carrollton Rangers, 9-4, at Rangers Field. Coronado was led by 20-year old second baseman Mike Robinson, who went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The win was credited to 18-year old right-handed pitcher Jordan Vazquez in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Kenji Sakai took the loss. Tetsuhiro Nitta got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Coronado used the hitting of Eddie Long to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Islanders on top, 4-0. For the game, Long had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I felt good up there," said Long. "I saw the ball well."
With the win, Coronado upped its record to 28-14.
