Corpus Slugs Lighting to 7-5 Win
|
Thunder Bay and Carrollton duked it out and the Lighting came out victorious.
The Thunder Bay Lighting beat the Carrollton Rangers by a score of 7-5. Thunder Bay designated hitter Juan Corpus deserved the lion's share of the credit. Corpus slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Lighting. Fred Bourque got the win, improving to 3-0. He worked 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Getting the save was Antonio Alvarado, his 2nd.
Dwaine Powell aided the Thunder Bay cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the first. For the game, the second baseman was 1-1 with a walk and was hit by a pitch.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Powell said (again).
After today's action, Thunder Bay sits at 72-48, while Carrollton falls to 63-54.
