Scorpions Lose, 7-5, at Castro Field
|
The Caribbean Commies defeated the Scottsdale Scorpions, 7-5, in RCLR action at Castro Field, with Caribbean right fielder Shaun Buckley named player of the game. Caribbean reliever Miguel Contrera got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Yasunori Ogiwara was tagged with the loss. Miguel Baragan was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.
Had Sam Winter not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Winter hit a 2-run double. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Commies.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Winter said.
The Commies sit in 4th place in the RCLR John Mayberry Division with a record of 32-42.
