The Yuma Varmits defeated the Caribbean Commies, 5-2, in TMLR action at Castro Field, with Yuma pitcher Josh Baird named player of the game. Picking up the save was Mike Suarez, his 1st. Yuma is now 37-35, while Caribbean is 30-42.

Yuma used the clutch hitting of Francisco Reyes to capture the win. The catcher drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to give the Varmits the lead, 2-0. For the game, Reyes had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Yuma manager Ray Stephens.
