Carrollton Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
Montreal got a terrific performance from pitcher Alberto Alvarez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Carrollton Rangers. Carrollton won the Rangers Field contest, 4-2. Alvarez threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Carrollton reliever Danny Correa was credited with the win. His record goes to 3-0. Kinara Nyariki took the loss for Montreal. The Rangers raised their record to 16-21.
Carrollton got a knockout punch from Kyle Gianotti. The pinch hitter hammered a grand slam home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"This game had its share of tense moments," Gianotti said, postgame.
