The Savannah Peaches beat the Oconto Falls Timbers, 5-2, at Martin Field. Savannah catcher Amir Morgan had an outstanding performance. He was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Carlos Loera got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 4 innings. The Peaches improved to 23-9.
With Savannah leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Morgan hit a curveball from Alex Arias for a grand slam home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Peaches ahead, 5-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Morgan told the Savannah Gazette. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
