Syracuse Beats Brooklyn, Goes to 70-44
|
Led by 18-year-old Jose Tamez, the Syracuse Orange Sox downed the Brooklyn Cyclones, 10-3. Tamez went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Syracuse. Syracuse starter Danny Porras was credited with the win after throwing 122 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-3. The Cyclones, now 67-46, have lost 4 straight.
Steve Garrison had a big 2-run triple for the Orange Sox in the top of the third inning. With Syracuse leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from Rich Lewis and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Orange Sox ahead, 4-0.
"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Tamez told a local reporter after the game.
