Yuma Topples Paradise Island, 6-3
|
Paradise Island third baseman Tommy Li had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Li was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs, even as Yuma beat the Pirates, 6-3. Joel Valrie notched his 17th save in 18 chances. The 5th-place Varmits now sit at 57-56.
The Varmits got a big at-bat from designated hitter Tony Vazquez. For the game, Vazquez was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave Yuma a 5-3 lead.
Vazquez attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
