Ridin' High: Noda Hits for Cycle
|
Yogo Noda was jubilant as the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas left the field with a win, 8-4, over the Caribbean Commies. He had every right to be.
The 19-year-old center fielder hit for the cycle at Castro Field, had a 4-for-5 game and added 5 runs batted in and 1 run to boot.
"It's too bad I can't do that every day," Noda said with a smile to reporters after the game. "It would do wonders for my batting average."
Boca Raton manager Tomohiro Harada was "proud" of the center fielder's feat, but was not expecting it to happen.
"Cycles are tough because triples are tough," the skipper said. "As soon as the ball left the bat on that triple, guys were jumping off the bench for him. Honestly, I wasn't sure he was going to be able to leg it out."
Yogo Noda hit an RBI double in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI triple in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Nick Woyak in the 9th.
So far this year, Noda has 16 home runs and a .281 batting average.
