Yuma Varmits starter Alex Escalona was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the The Stinging Larvae, 3-2. Paul Antoinette earned the save, his 12th. The Varmits go to 32-28, putting them second in the TMLR Otto Velez Division.
Yuma used the clutch hitting of Rafael Hernandez to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Varmits ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Hernandez.
