Tight Tilt Goes to Commies, 2-1

The Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas got a superb performance from pitcher Jeff Gordon. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Caribbean. The Commies won the game, 2-1. In spite of the loss, Gordon was named the player of the game. He threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball. Jesus Alvarez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 5 save opportunities. Boca Raton has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Caribbean used the timely hitting of Sam Winter to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Commies on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I was a little disappointed," said Boca Raton manager Héctor Zamora. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
