Multi-HR Day for Silva as Nutcrackers Overpower Pirates, 6-1
|
The Normal Nutcrackers downed the Paradise Island Pirates, 6-1, at The Nutcracker Suite. Bob Silva led the way, going 2-for-4 for Normal. Alfonso Lopez picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-1. He struck out 11 in 5.1 innings. Normal, now 31-27, holds third place in the TMLR Fred McGriff Division.
With Normal leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Silva hit a curveball from Archie Parker for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Nutcrackers ahead, 4-0.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Silva said in reaction to the win.
