The Yuma Varmits did just enough to sneak past the Paradise Island Pirates, 5-4, at Predator Park. Yuma pitcher Jim Kein, in particular, had a standout performance. Kein yielded 4 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 2, and struck out 13. His record improves to 2-0. Yuma is now 7-4.

Yuma needed the clutch hitting of Kenny Cox to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Varmits on top, 5-4. For the game, Cox had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
