Pirates Lose, 2-1, at The Nutcracker Suite
|
The Nutcrackers had to overcome a good performance from Paradise Island pitcher Luis Romero to claim a 2-1 win at The Nutcracker Suite. Romero went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Josh Tennyson got the win, improving to 3-4. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 1 hits and no runs, while striking out 8 and walking 2. Masaharu Seino closed it out for his 2nd save.
In the bottom of the fifth, Normal third baseman Brett Margerum had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and two out, Margerum stroked a 2-run home run to left. It made the score 2-0, Normal. For the game, he was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Margerum.
The win puts the Nutcrackers at 30-27, while the Pirates drop to 30-27.
