The The Stinging Larvae scored a 6-5 win versus the Scottsdale Scorpions at The Queen. The Stinging pitcher Neil Elliott nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Elliott, now 3-3, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 5 earned runs. The Larvae go to 23-31, putting them last in the TMLR Otto Velez Division.
Luis Zabaleta had a big run-scoring single for the Larvae in the bottom of the seventh inning. With The Stinging leading 5-2 and a runner on 3rd, he got a fastball from Jose Lara and stroked the single to center. It was his 20th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Larvae ahead, 6-2.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Scottsdale manager Tommy McCain. "The effort was great."
