7-2 Loss Extends Hawaii Skid
|
The Bighorn Bison got a strong performance from pitcher Wes Stith. Turtle stymied the Hawaii offense en route to a solid, 7-2 win at Aloha Stadium. Stith picked up the win for Bighorn, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 8-5. The slumping Honu have dropped 6 in a row.
Tony Mares was 1 for 5. He drove in 2 runs for Bighorn. The 28-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a 2-run single off Fernando Vazquez. It was his 70th hit of the season.
Hawaii manager Naoki Okada said: "Over the course of the season, you're going to have little ruts where you're not getting the breaks and when you're not playing well. This is one of them."
