Mounties Bash Mavericks, 15-2
|
The Montreal Mounties pounded the El Paso Mavericks, 15-2, at Mount Royal Grounds. Chris Elliott, who finished 3rd in the TML in slugging percentage with .625 last year, had a solid game. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 4 for the Mounties. The Mounties improved to 57-37.
With Montreal leading 12-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Elliott came up to bat against El Paso pitcher Ryan Burnett. Elliott hit a slider to center for a 3-run home run. His 17th home run of the season put the Mounties on top, 15-2.
"Not the preferred outcome," El Paso manager Lorenzo Castillo said, when asked afterward about the game.
