West Island Gets 6-4 Win Against Mavericks
The home team gave the crowd at Stade Claude Raymond something to cheer about.

The West Island Jazz defeated the El Paso Mavericks, 6-4, in Roberto Clemente League action at Stade Claude Raymond. Chris Jones pulled his weight. The 9-year veteran went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Efrain Gutierrez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 6-0. Bret Naughton, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2062 draft, was tagged with the loss. Ernesto Herrera, who finished 4th in the TML in saves with 32 in 2062, earned the save for West Island.

James Adkinson drove in one run for West Island. The 22-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jeremy Sims. It was his 48th RBI of the season.

"That's what this team is about," said Jones, "picking each other up."

The second-place Jazz improved to 54-42.
