Commies Win, 8-4, Extend Hot Streak
|
The Caribbean Commies powered past the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas, 8-4, at Castro Field. Jerry Cruz provided some of the pop. 2059 BD went 2 for 2 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Caribbean reliever Jon Castillo snagged the win, upping his record to 4-4. Victor Martinez shouldered the loss. Alex Soto recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 5 for 5.
Caribbean took the lead, 8-4, on Mario Romero's 9th home run of the season. The grand slam home run came off Boca Raton pitcher Kelby Balaski in the bottom of the eighth.
"The guys are feeling pretty good about where they're at right now," said Commies manager Atamas Manas. "We have a lot of guys playing with confidence."
The Commies sport a record of 33-49.
