A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Paradise Island Pirates and Syracuse Orange Sox.

The Paradise Island Pirates put together a convincing win at Predator Park, defeating the Syracuse Orange Sox, 11-0. Naohisa Sasaki was one of the hitting stars. He was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for Paradise Island. Yuko Hamamoto, the winner, is now 1-0. He struck out 4 and walked 2 over 5.1 innings, while allowing no runs on 3 hits.

The Pirates got a big hit from shortstop Pablo Lara. Facing Syracuse pitcher Victor Beltran in the bottom of the seventh, Lara pounded a grand slam home run to right-center. His 10th home run of the season put the Pirates ahead, 10-0.

"It was a tough day, no getting around it," said losing manager Abdul Razzaq Kharoti.

With the win, Paradise Island raised its record to 61-27.
