Cyclones Suffer One-Run Loss at Yuma
Yuma beat Brooklyn at The Range, eking out a 4-3 win. The triumph was primarily due to third baseman Roberto Matas. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. Victor Vasquez snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-1 on the season. Alex Alvarez suffered the loss. Earning his 6th save of the year was John Thaxton.

Yuma took a 4-3 lead on Jon Escobar's 12th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Escobar hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Brooklyn pitcher Alex Alvarez visibly frustrated.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Brooklyn manager Jerry Cruz.

The 4th-place Varmits hiked their record to 42-43.
