Juan Gomez was terrific for the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas in his team's 3-0 triumph over the Wichita Storm. His performance earned Gomez rave reviews. Gomez, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 6, and allowing no runs. Picking up his 4th save was 19-year old right-handed pitcher David Vilca.

Boca Raton used a well-timed hit by Juan Rodrigues to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Fighting Iguanas ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"I didn't leave too many pitches out over the plate," said Gomez.

Boca Raton currently is in last place in the RCL R John Mayberry Division at 30-56.
