Alvarado Blanks Boca Raton, 12-0
|
The Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Sylva Miners. The Fighting Iguanas were overpowered by Sylva starter Jordan Alvarado, who hurled his club to victory, 12-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Tomohiro Harada said.
Over 9 innings, Alvarado blanked Boca Raton on 2 hits with 1 walk and 15 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Alvarado said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
For the year, Alvarado has saved 2 games while posting an ERA of 2.08 and 73 strikeouts in 52 innings. His totals also include a 2-2 record in 4 relief appearances.
