|
In the 7-4 Easton win over Caribbean, the impact of Miguel Villarreal was substantial. Villarreal, who is tied for 9th in the RR in stolen bases with 6, went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Chris Pirela, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-1. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 4. Steve Davila closed it out for his 5th save.
The Caterpillars got a big at-bat from first baseman Garland Kerr. For the game, Kerr went 1 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times. In the top of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Easton a 2-1 lead.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Kerr told the Easton Citizen.
The 6th-place Caterpillars sport a record of 27-46.
