Fighting Iguanas Win, Pelay goes 4-for-5
|
Boca Raton and Prince George duked it out at The Back Draft and the Fighting Iguanas came out victorious.
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Willie Pelay, the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas defeated the Prince George Cougars, 6-4. Pelay went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Fighting Iguanas. Martin Sanchez earned the win for Boca Raton. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 11 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-1. Ferdie van der Duin was credited with the save for Boca Raton, his 2nd of the season.
Pelay provided the big break for the Fighting Iguanas in the top of the seventh inning. With a runner on 3rd, he hit a run-scoring single, helping Boca Raton to get the win.
"I know we have our doubters," said Prince George manager Joe Wilkins. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
Boca Raton is now 17-25, Prince George 24-18.
