Pirates Get Close Win Over Varmits
The Paradise Island Pirates did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Yuma Varmits at The Range. Nobody did more than pitcher Luis Romero, who captured player of the game honors. The winning pitcher was Romero, now 4-2. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. Danny Benitez recorded the save for Paradise Island, his 7th of the season.

Colin Marra provided some late-game heroics for Paradise Island. In the top of the eighth inning, he hit a 3-run home run. It came on a 0-1 fastball from Paul Antoinette and propelled Paradise Island to a 3-2 lead.

"I really like what we did out there today," Marra said after the game.

The Pirates, now 22-19, have won 6 in a row.
