Close Win Moves Scorpions to 28-41
|
Behind the hitting of Moises Valadez, the Scottsdale Scorpions clipped the Key West Thunder, 6-5. Valadez went 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Scorpions. Manuel Olivas, the winner, improved to 6-4. He held Key West to 4 runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Key West's current losing streak has reached 6 games.
With Scottsdale trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, Valadez hit a fastball from Alfonso Celaya for a grand slam home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Scorpions ahead, 4-1.
"We've hit a lull," said Key West manager James Adams.
