The Frobisher Bay Caribou defeated the Victoria Totems, 7-6, at Royal Athletic Park today. Leading the charge for Frobisher Bay was left fielder Jesus Cruz. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. The winner was Frobisher Bay reliever Roberto Arenas, now 2-3. The loser was Bobby Aguilar. Oscar Jimenez earned the save for Frobisher Bay, his 6th of the year.
Cruz had a game-changing at-bat for Frobisher Bay. It came in the top of the ninth inning with no one out. Cruz hit a 1-2 curveball from Bobby Aguilar for a solo home run. It put Frobisher Bay in front, 7-6.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Caribou manager Ron Verity. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
The Caribou now have a record of 9-30 with the win over Victoria.
