Marin, Commies Beat Sabercats, 4-1
|
A 3-RBI performance from center fielder Willie Marin, who is tied for 5th in the RR with a .333 batting average, led the Caribbean Commies to a 4-1 win over the Sedona Sabercats. Henry Lezcano got the win, improving to 3-1. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 2 hits and no runs, while striking out 7 and walking 3. Seth Gallagher finished the game for Caribbean and earned his 7th save.
Marin put Caribbean up, 4-1, when he hit a 2-run home run off Andres Najera in the top of the ninth. His 1st home run of the season helped the Commies capture the win.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Marin told reporters after the game.
The 4th-place Commies now have a win-loss record of 17-22.
