Larvae Rally to Eke Out Win
The The Stinging Larvae grabbed a 6-5 win over the Montreal Cardinals at Denis Coderre Stadium. The Stinging left fielder Matt Gerl went 4 for 6 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 to earn player of the game honors. Dan Stamper, credited with the win, is now 2-5. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. Ernesto Sanchez picked up the save for The Stinging, his 4th of the year.

The game was all tied up in the top of the 13th, until Gerl delivered big-time for The Stinging, stroking a dramatic solo home run off Nestor Polanco. The game-changing hit put the Larvae on top, 6-5.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Montreal manager John Blevins. "The effort was great."

Even with the win, the Larvae have a dismal 12-26 record.
