The Caribbean Commies outlasted Onorato Botte and the Yuma Varmits, 8-6. Botte was impressive in the loss. The Yuma left fielder went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Carmem Verdasca got credit for the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings. Caribbean occupies 5th place in the RCL R John Mayberry Division at 29-52.

Franklin Salinas had a big 2-run double for the Commies in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Caribbean leading 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a splitter from Rene Fernandez, who is tied for 6th in the TR with a 1.34 WHIP, and swatted a double to center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Commies ahead, 6-3.

"A great team win and something real positive we can build on," said Salinas after the game.
