Scottsdale defeated Thunder Bay, 10-2, in large part due to 19-year old second baseman Omar Ruiz. Ruiz drove in 7 runs. The second baseman had 2 doubles and 2 home runs for the Scorpions. Brandon Alston picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, while walking 8 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 7-0. The triumph puts Scottsdale at 36-19 for the season.

With Scottsdale leading 3-2 in the top of the fifth, Ruiz hit a fastball from Tim Risk for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Scorpions ahead, 6-2.

"Every win gets us closer to our ultimate goal," said Ruiz.
