The Yuma Varmits faced a tough opponent in Thunder Bay pitcher Fred Bourque, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Range by a final score of 5-4. Bourque went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. John Thaxton nailed down his 2nd save. The Varmits are now 36-36.

Yuma went in front, 5-4, on Hector Lora's 4th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Lora hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Thunder Bay pitcher Israel Vigil visibly perturbed.

"Both teams played hard," said Yuma manager Vinny Aceves.
