Fenton, Commies Beat Peaches, 3-2
|
The exploits of center fielder Justin Fenton helped the Caribbean Commies defeat the Savannah Peaches, 3-2. Fenton was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Edwin Preciado, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-3. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 4 and walking 2. The last-place Commies hiked their record to 24-49.
Fenton had a timely hit for Caribbean in the top of the sixth. With Caribbean trailing 1-0, he turned a first pitch slider into a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season, making it 2-1, Caribbean.
"We busted our tails," said Savannah manager David Flecha. "But we came up short."
