Orange Sox Pull Out Late-Game Win, 7-6
|
Getting offensive support from Dennis Black, the Syracuse Orange Sox topped the Scottsdale Scorpions, 7-6. Black was 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Orange Sox. The winner in relief was Hector Noriega. He is now 3-0. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. Dennis Fellows earned the save for Syracuse, his 2nd of the year.
Geoff Sappington came through with a big-time hit for Syracuse. The second baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 6-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Winning never gets dull," said Sappington.
The first-place Orange Sox have a one-game lead in their division.
