Portillo Pitches Shutout
The Yuma Varmits shut out the Wichita Storm 7-0 today behind the strong pitching of Rodrigo Portillo. Portillo surrendered only 3 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 6.

Following the last out, Portillo appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Wichita manager Francisco Solano, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken left-hander as the clubs left the field. Portillo's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.

The Storm skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Varmits press conference, Portillo confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.

"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Portillo said.

"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Yuma manager Ray Stephens added.

So far this season, Portillo has logged a 2-4 record with a 3.10 ERA. He has started 7 games, hurled 52.1 innings and registered 58 strikeouts and 15 walks.
