Behind an impressive start by Franklin Cruz, Havana beat Manhattan, 2-1. Havana reliever Yale Fischer was the winner. His record is now 4-4. Josh Denney took the loss. The Stogies go to 44-36, putting them third in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.

Coming to the plate with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Havana third baseman Ernesto Rios had a chance to be the hero. Facing Manhattan pitcher Josh Denney with the bases empty, Rios, who finished 2nd in the RCL in RBI with 132 in 2051, hit a solo home run.

"We saved our best for last," said Cruz.
