In a tight contest between the Thunder Bay Lighting and the Frobisher Bay Caribou, Wynn Backstrom was the determining factor. The Thunder Bay right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-0 win. Bobby Kolar was credited with the save for Thunder Bay, his 11th of the season. Thunder Bay is sitting pretty at 37-10.

Thunder Bay used the timely hitting of Esteban Gonzalez to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lighting on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"It's fun when you can help the team win games," said Gonzalez.
