Varmits Need Extra Frames to Get Past Rangers
Fans got some free baseball at Rangers Field.

The Yuma Varmits withstood a good performance by Carrollton center fielder Unpei Sakamoto to knock off Carrollton, 6-4, in 10 innings. Sakamoto was 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. John Thaxton got credit for the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings.

Izzy Acuna came through with a big-time hit for Yuma. The shortstop smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Acuna. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."

The Varmits, at 34-35, inhabit 4th place in the TML R Otto Velez Division.
