Wood Helps Miners Beat Rangers, 13-7
The Sylva Miners handed the Rockville Rangers a loss at Pickaxe Field. The final score was 13-7. Lawrence Wood was one of the major contributors for Sylva. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Carlos Acevez, who is tied for 5th in the RR in wins with 5, was the winner. He's now 5-0. The loser was Mike Babey. At 36-8, the Miners find themselves in first place in the RCL R John Mayberry Division.

The Rangers had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Miners going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old left fielder Hunter Thibault came to the plate. Thibault hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 curveball from Rockville hurler Juan Flores. It was Thibault's 15th double of the year.

"I felt good up there," said Thibault. "I saw the ball well."
