Caribou Rally For Late Win Over Fighting Iguanas
|
The Frobisher Bay Caribou defeated the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas, 6-5, at Scripps Field today. Leading the charge for Frobisher Bay was right fielder Andy Thigpen. He went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Oscar Jimenez got the save, the 4th for him this season. Even with the win, the Caribou have a dismal 6-19 record.
Thigpen turned the game around in the top of the ninth. Facing Jim Platzer, the Frobisher Bay right fielder rapped a 3-run home run. Suddenly, the 4-3 Frobisher Bay deficit turned into a 6-4 lead.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Caribou manager Ron Verity. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
