Lighting Shut Out Caterpillars, 6-0
|
At Knockout Stadium by Brooklyn Decker, the Easton Caterpillars and Thunder Bay Lighting were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Thunder Bay Lighting starter James Towns pitched a good game to help his team take down the Easton Caterpillars, 6-0. In 5.1 innings, Towns surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed no runs.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Alberto Melchor? The Thunder Bay right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Lighting on top, 2-0. For the game, Melchor had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"James gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Thunder Bay skipper Masamune Fujimoto.
Thunder Bay is now 33-8, 9½ games up in the RCL R John Mayberry Division.
